My childhood memories of Lag b\u2019Omer are of days filled with plain old-fashioned fun. No classes,<\/strong> a bagged picnic lunch, and games outdoors. And\u2026 if my bangs were in my eyes\u2026 that was the day to get them trimmed. (Yom Haatzmaut<\/em> or Rosh Chodesh,<\/em> in that case, would have been missed opportunities.)<\/span><\/p>\n

The holiday holds several PR messages\u2013 in fact in a past Lag b\u2019Omer issue, I shared\u00a0<\/span>33 ways to promote your message on Lag B\u2019omer.<\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

\nThis year, however, I want to focus on only one Lag b\u2019Omer message. It is one that can speak to all your constituents loudly and clearly. I admit, it may seem too simple, too sweet, but here it is: (with attribution to Chabad.org).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Talmud relates that in the weeks between the Jewish holidays\u00a0<\/span><\/em>of<\/span>\u00a0Passover<\/span>\u00a0<\/em>and Shavuot,<\/span><\/em>\u00a0a plague raged amongst the disciples of the great sage Rabbi Akiva,<\/span>\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0\u201cbecause they did not act respectfully towards each other.\u201d These weeks are therefore observed as a period of mourning,<\/span><\/em>\u00a0with various joyous activities proscribed by law and custom. On Lag b\u2019Omer the deaths ceased. Thus, Lag b\u2019Omer also carries the theme of the imperative to love and respect one’s fellow Jew (Ahavat Israel).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
